Description
The color postcard depicts five people carrying poles over their shoulders, the poles weighted with woven reed baskets containing live fowl for sale. Behind them, a corrugated-roof building can be seen.
The back of the postcard has no handwriting. Printed in the margin of the correspondence section is "Universities' Mission to Central Africa, 9 Dartmouth Street, Westminster." "Bringing Fowls for Sale, Mponda's (Nyasaland Diocese) Formerly natives carried fowls for miles, tied by the legs and hung downwards on a pole, but these the Mission refused to buy.
