Photograph caption dated March 31, 1987 reads, "A bespectacled Marlee Matlin was eloquent as she signed her acceptance of the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Sarah Norman, the angry young deaf woman in 'Children of a Lesser God.'" The 59th Academy Awards were held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on March 30, 1987.
