Visitors travel on the funicular or "Great Incline" portion of the Mount Lowe Railway. People at the 10-room Rubio Pavilion and Hotel (1893-1909) with its below-deck dining room and dance floor, look on as the funicular ascends the incline at the foot of Echo Mountain. The pavilion was the transitioning point for the lower narrow-gauge train and the "Great Incline."
