Description
Sam Shepard was the playwright in residence for Playwrights Festival III, formerly known as the Bay Area Playwrights Festival. This festival took place that year at Marin Community Playhouse and the College of Marin. These videos are significant due to Shepard's lasting influence as a playwright and performer in theatre history as a whole but also for the San Francisco Bay Area theatre scene and this also shows a part of the history of the Marin Community Playhouse in its inaugural year. Marin Community Playhouse was formed by a group of volunteers in 1980, funded primarily by a grant from the San Francisco Foundation.
