Description
Photograph dated 1934 and used for an article dated May 21, 1940; the caption reads, "Southern California's famous golden beaches, among its greatest assets, are being eaten away at a cost of millions of dollars, the shoreline Planning Association is warning today. This photo shows the beach of Venice pier as it looked six years ago. Sands were almost 100 yards wide and theere was ample space for thousands of bathers. Venice's beaches sometimes were 600 feet wide."
