Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Cagatay Hamamcioglu was born in Turkey in 1974. He came to the U.S. in 1991 to attend college. He received a B.S. from Cal State Bakersfield and an MBA from Pepperdine. He worked as a marketing director in Los Angeles. Cagatay Hamamcioglu sits at the slot machines with his girlfriend Zeynep Oguz's mother at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino during a trip to Las Vegas in March 1993.
