Marta is believed by many to be the best women's player in the world, taking the mantle from Mia Hamm of the United States. She has been called "Pele with skirts" by Brazlian fans, a comparison which Pele himself agrees with. Marta played one season in the Bay Area with FC Gold Pride, and the team won the title that season.
