Description
N. W. view of the Marquez Saloon adobe in 1935. Porch, entrance and windows are visible as well as the roof. Pottery is on the porch. Santa Ana Canyon highway is in the foreground. The adobe is in the "form of a store building, one large room 23.5 x 31.5 feet with porch and board front above." It was built by the family of Jose Rosas Marquez who married Trinidad Peralta daughter of Juan Pablo Peralta II. Recent to 1936, it was used as a saloon and dance hall for the community. It was located on Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. The name Mathews is on the photo
