Originally known as the Hebrew Sheltering Home for the Aged, the Jewish Home for the Aging was founded in Boyle Heights in 1912. About four years later, the Home's first permanent facility was built on Boyle Avenue, where it existed for decades. In 1967, acreage in Reseda was purchased and a facility was built on Victory Boulevard. A merger in 1979 with the Menorah Village created a second campus on Tampa Avenue in Reseda. Photograph caption dated February 7, 1957 reads, "Holding hands, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Klatzman enjoy being guests of honor at a gathering celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary at California Home for Aged at Reseda, their residence. They were married in 1892 and have adopted son, Joseph Jr."
