Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Maria Montez was born on June 6, 1912 in Barahona, Dominican Republic, the daughter of The Honorary Vice Consul of Spain. She was a popular actress in the United States during the 1940s. Her accent and background made her "exotic" and she starred in a series of Technicolor adventure films including "Arabian Nights" and "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves." Montez's films were very popular during World War II and she was nicknamed "The Queen of Technicolor." She married French actor Jean Pierre Aumont in 1943 and after the war they moved to Europe where she made several films. They had one child. Montez died of a heart attack on September 7, 1951.; Arthur Atwater Kent, Sr., born in 1873, was an American inventor and prominent radio manufacturer. In 1921, he patented the modern form of the automobile ignition coil, a model in the industry for nearly 50 years. Kent produced and sold radio components as a young man, later moving into radio manufacturing. The Atwater Kent Manufacturing Company became the largest maker of radios in the United States by 1925. The Great Depression took its toll on the company and it closed in 1936. Atwater died in 1949. Photograph used for an article dated September 7, 1951; the caption reads "Her lush, sloe-eyed beauty always attracted undivided attention when she attended movie premieres in Hollywood. With her at this one was the late Atwater Kent." They are possibly attending the premiere of "Anna and the King of Siam."
