Holy Cross Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Holy Cross and was originally slated to be built in Panorama City. It was eventually built at 15031 Rinaldi Street in Mission Hills and opened in 1961. In 1996 the Sisters of Providence acquired the hospital and renamed it Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. Photograph caption dated June 28, 1958 reads "Lockheed Employes' [sic] Buck-of-the-Month Club pledges $10,000 to Holy Cross Hospital building fund. Shown making the presentation on behalf of club is board member Albert Rankin, right, while general campaign chairman Stephen B. Newton, left, accepts. Looking on is the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas O'Dwyer, representing Sisters of Holy Cross who will operate new 200 bed hospital. Employe [sic] gift supplements previously announced $30,000 pledge from company."
