Photograph caption dated January 18, 1964 reads, "The Rev. Bernard John Stacy of Claretville Seminary blesses an old oak tree at Calabasas while Lawrence Kramer, Calabasas, and Edward P. Haneline, Van Nuys, watch. Said to be hundreds of years old, the newly-registered tree was once used to hang cattle rustlers." The oaks were being registered in a program sponsored by the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce in an effort to help preserve them. Kramer is the owner of the country store seen next to the tree.
