Description
Jack's Breakfast House at 1018 Sixth Street, the Golden Gate Laundry at 1020 Sixth Street, and Harry's Clothing at 1022 Sixth Street are all visible in this 1950s photograph. William Lee (also known as Lee Leong Chee) owned Golden Gate Laundry. Harry Max Cohen owned Harry's Clothing and cited the activities of the Sacramento Redevelopment Agency as the cause of financial troubles which forced him to file for bankruptcy in 1963. The Sacramento Redevelopment Industry demolished these buildings during midcentury "urban renewal" projects.
