Description
Flight tests take place for Lockheed's 8 Sirius, a single engine, propeller driven monoplane designed and built by Jack Northrop and Gerard Vultee in 1929, at the request of Charles Lindbergh. Two similar versions of the plane were built for the United States Air Force, one mostly made of wood with fixed landing gear, the other made of metal skin with a retractable landing gear. The plane's intended role was for utility transport. Photo taken at Union Airport (Bob Hope Airport) in Burbank on November 19, 1929.
