Description
Photograph of Sacramento as drawn from nature for Volume 1 of the United States Illustrated, [s.d.]. A river is in the foreground, and several large steam ships and sail boats are moored along the shoreline. The city is behind these ships and is composed of many small buildings mixed in with tall trees. The streets are filled with horse-drawn vehicles and a handful of pedestrians. In the background at right is a mountain, and there are large clouds in the sky. The book from which this was taken was edited by Charles H. Dana and published by Herman J. Meyers in New York.
