This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: "Baldwin Hotel Building-Theatre Entrance November 1898." Photo shows the entrance to the Baldwin Hotel's theater after the structure was gutted by fire on November 23, 1898. Rubble is everywhere. Posters advertising "Gayest Manhattan" at the Columbia Theatre and "Secret Service" at the California Theatre are plastered onto the ruins.
