Description
Oscar G. Mayer, Jr., addressing guests at the dedication of the 60-inch telescope, Palomar Observatory. Mayer is standing behind a podium inside the Oscar G. Mayer memorial building which houses the telescope. A small portion of the telescope is seen in the upper right-hand corner of the photograph. The crowd of unidentified men and women is seated in chairs surrounding Mayer. The ladder leading to the observatory's balcony is seen in the background, to Mayer's left.
