Description
Note: "Palmweinvorräte u. Tanzmasken. (Wuhrmann, A., 1917. Beschreibung zu den Lichtbildern aus Bamum. E-30-0,6).
Note translation: Palm wine reserves, and masks for dancing. The dancers and musicians develope a burning thirst, so the King makes sure there are refreshments. Many carriers come heavily loaded with calabash bottles full of palm wine. Others carry heavy sacks of kola nuts. The sour drink and the bitter nuts taste excellent, taken together. The dancers and the musicians wait impatiently for the King to give the sign which allows them for a moment to stop dancing and playing and enjoy his welcome gifts. (A. Wuhrmann, 1917, Commentaries to Slides from Bamum, E-30-0,6. K 373).
