Photograph article dated August 7, 1963 partially reads, "A 46-year-old Newhall woman died Tuesday night after her auto slammed into a telephone pole on San Fernando Rd. in Newhall, the California Highway Patrol reported. Esther Woodford, 25025 Walnut St., died at Golden State Hospital in Newhall at 11:10 p.m. Officers said she apparently lost control of her vehicle after suffering a heart attack. The CHP said the woman was northbound on San Fernando Rd. near 14th St. when her 1963 sedan suddenly veered to the right and smashed into the telephone pole. Elsewhere, police in Encino faced the strange task yesterday afternoon of putting a boat back on its trailer in order to restore traffic flow on the outbound Ventura Freeway... Police said the boat and trailer apparently broke loose from the vehicle and the boat then fell off the trailer on the freeway." Photograph caption reads, "Van Nuys officer checks landlocked boat and trailer - An Encino driver barely missed collision on freeway."
