Photograph caption dated October 10, 1961 reads, "Five Space-Research chambers simulate conditions of outer space 435 miles above earth." The article partially reads, "From the solid base of its 29-year foundation in aviation, the Lockheed-California Company - division of the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation - continues to seek out and study new fields for application of its technology and extension of its capabilities...Management objectives outlined for the company at the beginning of the year by President M. C. Haddon included increased application to spacecraft and construction of space environment facilities at the company's new Rye Canyon research center."
