"Rungwe. Br. Gemuseus nimmt Abschied v. d. Gemeine." ("Rungwe. Br[other] Gemuseus says farewell to the congregation."). A group of ca. 40 Africans is seated on the ground. Missionary Gemuseus stands in front of the group and shakes hands with some of the seated Africans. Oskar Gemuseus (1874 - 1959) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served as headmaster from 1907 to 1916, as mission superintendent of Nyassa [Nyasa] Province from 1925 to 1930, as bishop from 1932 to 1939. Starting in 1939 he wrote a history of the mission in Nyasa Province ("Wechselnde Gezeiten an den Gestaden des Nyassa"). His wife was Mathilde, née Richter.
