A mid-air collision between Aerome´xico Flight 498 and a Piper PA-28-181 Archer plane occurred over Cerritos near the intersection of 183rd Street and Carmenita Road, over which the front section of the DC-9 fuselage and other debris are seen strewn. The collision killed 67 people aboard both aircraft and 15 people on the ground. Photograph dated August 31, 1986.
