Description
Image of several political figures standing in front of the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C., wearing Pomeroy suits, including, from left to right, an unidentified man holding eyeglasses, Henry Ward Beecher, 1884 Democratic vice-presidential candidate John A. Logan, United States President Grover Cleveland and his future wife Frances Folsom, an unidentified man with glasses on the top of his head, Ulysses S. Grant, and 1884 Democratic presidential candidate James G. Blaine, with a boy with hoop and stick at right; business cards for dealers of Pomeroy suits pictured at left and right of center image; fashion details include overcoats, jackets, suits, patterned trousers, waistcoats, and collared shirts worn with neckties, dress with fitted bodice, draped skirt, and bustle; accessories include top hats, canes, straw hat with ribbon, and a parasol.
Date supplied by cataloger based on individuals depicted in the image; Cleveland was inaugurated as president in early 1885 and Grant died in July 1885.
