Photograph caption dated November 2, 1964 reads, "Getting a head start on her fellow women Jane Kinny, 16, with trophy, took first place at the United Crusade area speakoff held last week at Reseda High School. Fast talker Jancie Mason, 16, holding doll, won first place in the area speakoff at Monroe High School. The two will compete for a summer speech scholarship at USC, Dec. 1."
