Frederick-Burkett Photographers -- stamped on verso. Bird's eye view; on the left middle ground is the State Capitol building; across the street is a building under construction with only the steel structure visible; in the foreground left and right stone buildings face one another; on the left the building is embelllished by windows on the corner and tile work on the storey below the top storey; cars are parked on the street visible below with a car and a trolley proceeding towards the bottom of the photo; trees and sporadic buildings can be seen in the distance. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "showing the erection of the 'State Building # 1',,,Erected from 1924 to about 1928.....Sacramento Hotel, on the left-side, erected in 1909....Wm. Land Hotel, on the right-side, erected, first, about 1868.....Picture taken from the top of the Cal. Western State Life Insurance Building."
