Photograph article dated January 31, 1962 partially reads, "Take a boy who used to hunt, a Muskogee, Oklahoma fellow who is part Cherokee and proud of it, move him to the Valley, cast him in television as a reformed bad man and you get a picture of Clu Gulager who plays Billy the Kid every week. Clu, a top college athlete who almost turned pro in the tennis game, turned to drama instead. He lives in Woodland Hills with his wife and small son. He says he doesn't go shooting for fun much any more. Shooting and gun play are now a business. Not so in the Marines where young Gulager became a top shot with the M1 rifle."
