Caption: "POSTER PAINTING--These children are just beginning a large picture of a circus clown to stimulate interest in "Circus Day" which was one of the interesting special events of the vacation school. For this and for many other types of poster painting, and designs for background scenery in the school plays, the pictures were drawn on white wrapping paper, which was relatively inexpensive and plentiful. The Christmas trees shown in the upper left-hand corner, and which also appear in some other pictures, were made for the American Red Cross for use this Christmas by wounded Service men in hospitals.
