View of Market Street looking northeast between 3rd and 4th with memorial arch of Grand Army of the Republic spanning street. Market Street Cable Railway Co. car passing under arch, with more down the street. Horsecar rails used by various companies outboard of cable rails. Palace Hotel and Nucleus Hotel on right side of street in distance. Text on side reads that "The Nucleus Hotel Third and Market Street where Examiner Building now stands." Text below photo: "Memorial Arch erected in honor of visiting members of the G.A.R. July-August 1886. Note Necules [sic] Hotel on present site of Examiner."
