Description
The original "Men's Clubhouse" (Stanford Union) building, now known as Building 590. The left facade of the building, with arch over staircase and three arches above, faces what is now Old Union Courtyard. The right facade, with three rows of openings, now faces the White Plaza fountain and Stanford University Bookstore. The buildings in the back are part of the row of old engineering buildings on Panama Street, near White Plaza. The building was designed by Charles T. Whittlesley and completed in 1915. Originally, it was called the Stanford Union, then the Old Union when the new Spanish revival building was constructed. Later known as the Men's Clubhouse, it is currently referred to as Building 590.
