Description
Flowers, trees, and a prickly pear cactus are planted in the manicured garden of Nathaniel C. Carter on his Willow Dale estate in San Gabriel (now San Marino, California). The area is surrounded by wood fencing.
Title transcribed from front of photo-mount. Alt-title transcribed from back of photo-mount. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Printed to left of title: "B 4403," and below title: "Watkins' New Series Yosemite and Pacific Coast, 427 Montgomery St. under Palace hotel, S.F. " Image corresponds with Watkins New Series stereo #4403 titled, "Residence of N.C. Carter, Esq., Willow Dale, San Gabriel."
