In 1918, the Foster and Kleiser Los Angeles Branch opened at 230 S. San Pedro Street near Civic Center; in 1920, the plant moved to the location seen here.; The Foster and Kleiser plant structures and some neighboring ones have since been demolished. In 2007, West Adams Preparatory High School opened on the site of the former plant.
