All the graves are of similar appearance: simple, undecorated. A white frame inside of which is the actual tombstone. The tombstone lies flat on the grave. Written on the tombstone: No. 2840. Carl Rudolf Koelbing, geboren te Niesky in Silesie den 2 July 1810, overleden den 28 December 1860. ("No. 2840. Carl Rudolf Kölbing, born in Niesky, Silesia second of July 1810, died 28th of December in 1860"). -- Carl Rudolf Kölbing, born in 1810 in Niesky where he worked as a teacher. In 1841 he married Bertha Emilie Gregor in Ebersdorf. From 1842-60 Kölbing worked as missionary for the Herrnhut Brüdergemeine in South Africa in 1842 he was stationed in Genadendal, where he was the superintendent of the assistant's school. In 1852 he became head of the South African Mission. He died in 1860 in Genadendal.
