The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated February 20, 1962 reads, "Secretarial science major Mary Lee Rogne of Van Nuys, dressed in royal robes and crown, waves her wand over her court of princesses during freshman celebrations at Pierce College in Woodland Hills. Miss Rogne, 17, and her royal court, from left, Cathy Harrington, Diane Paullada, Franc Holman and Chris Parker, all 17, will preside over Branding festivities Friday."
