The Philharmonic Auditorium located northeast corner of 5th and Olive Streets was designed by architects Charles F. Whittlesey and Otto H. Neher, and engineer E.R. Harris. Opened in 1906, the auditorium facade was remodeled in 1938 by Claud Beelman. The building was designated as Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #61, but was demolished in the 1985.; Architects John and Donald B. Parkinson designed the 1930 Art Deco style Title Guarantee and Trust Company Building, located at 401 W. 5th Street with a Gothic Revival style tower. This building is Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #278, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places #84000891.
