Rubio is shown from his waist to his head and is looking at the camera while his seated body is turned to the right. He is holding a quill pen in one hand and his other hand rests on an open book at right. He is wearing dark hooded robes and he has short dark hair that does not extend past his ears at all. Picture file card reads "N. (Jr.?) Englehardt's Missions and Missionaries of California".
