At center, the river is pictured running from the foreground to burst its banks farther towards the center before bending to the left. To the right of the river, an expanse of city can be seen extending to the mountains in the distance. To the left, a less developed area can be seen, likely the space of Griffith Park airport (later the site of the Los Angeles Zoo). Photoprint reads: "This photograph is loaned to you.
