Original photograph has several small stains. Photograph caption dated January 1, 1957 reads "Birth of Los Angeles in small pueblo of Nuestra Senora La Reina de Los Angeles is historical pageant on city's float. Scene showed floral figures of Indians, Spaniards and Padre while at center two Spanish dons on horseback carried flags. At rear of float were three large Bird of Paradise, official flower of Los Angeles.
