Portrait of Christopher "Kit" Carson, hunter and trapper; one of a band of intrepid men who first explored the Rocky Mountain region. He was guide to Gen. John C. Fremont in his various expeditions. The story of his life is more thrilling than most tales of fiction. He died in 1868.
