"Dimensions: Height while standing 320 feet ; Circumference at the base 93 feet. Swept down by the December Gale, 1861" -- caption. 2010-3785. Discovered in 1852 by Augustus T. Dowd, area became a state park in 1931 - Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
