Description
Letty Cottin Pogrebin discusses her book, “Three Daughters.” Pogrebin begins by explaining that the novel explores the relationships in a traditional Jewish family that is motivated by good intentions yet plagued by inescapable tragedies. The story follows the sisters, Shoshanna, Leah, and Rachel who share a common family, culture and religion, but not a common history. The repercussions of this fact shape their relationships with each other and their individual lives. Pogrebin shares that the novel depicts the way that the past can overwhelm the present and how family secrets can affect the relationships of the family members. Also in this interview, Pogrebin discusses her role in the feminist movement and her thoughts on the direction feminism has taken.
