Photograph caption dated April 10, 1965 reads, "Palm crosses for Sunday - The Rev. Lowell B. McDowell, pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Van Nuys, gives handy hints on how to make palm crosses to members of St. Mary's Guild. Each year the guild gathers to prepare the crosses for use in the Palm Sunday service. Helping Fr. McDowell are, from left, Frieda Hoy, president of the Guild; Lisa Pignola, 4, Mrs. Jo Pignola, standing, Lori Pignola, 6, Mrs. Natalie Lazzarevich, Valerie Lazzarevich, 4, and Mrs. Gay Cooper, standing, with Margaret Cooper, 1 1/2, in her arms."
