Description
Shown is a photograph with Charles A. Lindbergh in an automobile, leading a parade while being surrounded by motorcycled policemen in 1927 at the intersection of Eleventh and J Streets in Downtown, Sacramento. Having just flown the Spirit of Saint Louis nonstop from New York to Paris (a feat never accomplished before his successful attempt) nearly four months prior, the famous pilot arrived manning the airplane from Oakland, California to Sacramento's Mather Field on September 17, 1927. A parade was held for his arrival, transporting him from Mather Field to Moreing Field in the Land Park area where he gave a speech to thousands of attendees.
