Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated January 10, 1955 partially reads, "Winding up 36 years as a telephone operator and service observer, Mrs. Eva G. Mercier of 13169 Aztec St., San Fernando, plans to get in a lot of fishing. Mrs. Mercier started her telephone career in Indiana at $3.50 a week. She came to the Valley in 1944 and en route was caught in a Midwest blizzard. She went to work for the Pacific Telephone Co. in Burbank and remained there until her retirement when she was honored recently by some 70 fellow employes [sic]."
