Description
Photograph of a drawing of a water carrier in the early days of the Pueblo Los Angeles, ca.1865. The man is standing at right and facing the viewer. The water carrier is wearing a broad-brimmed hat, short-sleeved shirt, and rolled up pants. He is holding two large wooden buckets of water, one in each hand. At left is a single-wheeled wheelbarrow with a massive barrel in the middle. A pair of palm trees is at left, and a cactus is behind them. In the distance at center is a low, light-colored building with more palm trees behind it.
