2009-1167. In: San Francisco and vicinity : [photograph album]; vol. 3, pg. 29. View of men holding 4 horses by the reins in front of a building. The horses are scarred and malnourished. Caption: "On account of the immense demand for heavy teaming, the officers of the Humane Societies are kept busy arresting inhumane drivers and giving relief to horses whose collars have chafed throughthe skin, and those improperly fed. The colt on the left can hardly stand, but was staggering under a big load. The skin is also worn off its neck by the collar." Also have negative number 27,634 (4x5 in.)
