Panorama view of the Hollywood Bowl, where 30,000 persons listened as Madame Chiang Kai-shek, First Lady of China, speaking in a low voice which broke intermittently with half-sobs, tell of China's long years of suffering and warned defiantly that her people would not be robbed of an equitable peace. Her address in the Bowl on April 4 was her final public appearance on her tour of the United States. Photograph dated April 5, 1943.
