Description
Caption reads: " Runoff from the heavy snowpack in the Sierra has brought the Stanislaus River to within five feet of the Melones Bridge on California 49, as shown here. The fact is being cited in efforts to have federal flood control funds restored. Rep. Harold T. Johnson of the 2nd, Mountain-Valley, District has joined officials of Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Stanislaus Counties in urging the Nixon adminstration to restore $9 million cut from the budget for the New Melones Dam project."
