Description
San Jose Fruit Packing Company at their first location on the southeast corner of North Fifth and Julian Streets, San Jose. The company was founded by Dr. James M. Dawson and his son Thomas Benton Dawson. Incorporated in 1875, the SJFPC was one San Jose's first canneries. This building housed the SJFPC's operations until 1893, when a new cannery was built on Sainsevain Street (now Auzerais Avenue).
