Photograph article dated January 14, 1964 partially reads, "The Hilltoppers of the Assistance League of Southern California announce the selection of three outstanding women as judges for the 1963 Hourglass Awards for women in volunteer service. They are Mmes. David Davis III, Los Angeles, vice president of the Assistance League, in charge of ways and means; Clifford Hodel, Encino, Hourglass Award Winner in 1961, and E. Rew Bixby, Glendale, this year's recipient of the 1963 United Way Gold Key Award. The three women will be faced with the responsibility of selecting one winner in each of three categories: civic leadership, cultural advancement and philanthropic service. They will meet in secret to go through the information submitted about each candidate by her sponsoring organization." Note: From left, Mmes. Davis III, Hodel and Bixby.
