Thought for the day by Charles Handy on living truthfully, without masks or other props, and accepting the consequences. Handy begins the thought discussing how his son approached him with questions concerning adultery and what to do about it should temptations arise, with Handy relating that it is a show of bad manners to one's partner. After discussing the biblical story of Jesus telling an adulterous woman to go and sin no more, he notes that it is often men who receive public scrutiny and shaming for their offensive deeds in modern society. He proceeds to highlight how the public longs to look behind the masks of celebrities, and how most people live behind their masks, recalling the film, "Shadowlands," and how it's about a person finally removing his mask. He concludes that if more people lived without their masks, there would be less temptation for others to tear away their masks, and people might be able to start to live up to their expressed truths.
